This article details a study of the incidence of suicide over a 2-yr period in an area serviced by a crisis intervention clinic. It was found that only 2 of the 29 persons who committed suicide in the area had previously had contact with the center. These results underscore difficulties with the assumption that suicide prevention centers indeed reach potentially suicidal persons. (4 Refs.)
