A 43-yr-old alcoholic was under treatment for epilepsy secondary to cortical atrophy with phenytoin, primidone, and sulthiame. In an attempt at suicide, he took a large overdosage of sulthiame. The result was transient catatonia, with complete recovery in less than 24 hr.
