The role of the psychiatrist in supporting law enforcement investigation of violent deaths is discussed & illustrated with a case of the death of a woman & the injury of her husband. The question of whether this was suicide or a homicide was posed by the investigating officers. Reviews of the background of the marriage & the information about the circumstances of the case is presented by the author so that 1 can have an insight into the value of the psychiatric evaluation of a case such as this.
