A panel debated the merits & dangers of suicide manuals. Dr. Battin discussed the French book, “Suicide: Operating Instructions”. She argued that the book’s underlying point is right, but its way of making its point is dangerously wrong. Dr. Seiden stated that people in suicide prevention can contribute to the discussion by raising some concerns & considerations such as: a cooling-off period, age restrictions, prognosis, & marketing. Comments were not available from the third panelist.
