A literature review on the issue of inheritability of suicide focuses on possible genetic cause. Findings include increased numbers of completed suicides among groups with affective disorder, increased numbers of suicide attempts among groups with personality disorders & increased rate of suicide among peoples with inheritable chronic diseases. A more complete evaluation of persons with a family history of suicide is implied. (RM)
