Suicide has long been recognized as an important cause of motor vehicle accidents. Subsequent to successful suicide, it is usually impossible to formulate a clear picture of the patient’s psychopathology. An in depth study of a serious suicide attempt is presented and related to repeat accidents. This, together with 2 other noteworthy cases, is compared with 50 most recent cases of drinking drivers. Particular importance is placed on suicidal young men who drink and drive while disqualified.
