The purpose of this paper is to report another large kindred of unipolar depression with 16 members affected over 5 generations. The family was brought to the authors attention by a 21 year old male college student with a 4 year history of recurrent depressive episodes meeting research criteria for a diagnosis of depression & with 1 serious suicide attempt by means of carbon monoxide. The family history disclosed 6 successful suicides & multiple occurrences of depression in other family members.
