This study tests the prediction that in situations that call for the negotiation of personal characteristics (i.e., potential degredation),suicidal individuals will offer fewer negotiation moves than nonsuicideal. Also examined are; the relationship between the depth of depression & the eligibility to negotiate personal characteristics, the paradoxical nature of suicide attempts, & the relationship of the present conceptualization to others presented in the literature.
