Studied relation of beliefs & behaviors to suicidal thoughts & attempts in 104 lower class male psychiatric & medical patients, composed equally of blacks & whites, 45-64 yrs old. Variables found associated with suicidal thoughts or acts in both races were explored in normal males of the same races, ages & social class. Sample finding: hypothesized behaviors & attitudes were more frequent both in suicidal patients in both races & in the general sample of whites. (36 ref.)
