This paper describes how ego activation psychotherapy can implement recovery from severe depression. Derived from an integration of Piagetian theory & psychoanalytic ego psychology, this approach has been successfully used in the long-term, intensive treatment of obsessive-compulsive & hysterical neurosis. It has been adapted for more short-term intensive therapy for treating depression.
