Seasonal Variation in Some Mental Health Statistics: Suicides, Homicides, Psychiatric Admissions, and Institutional Placement of the Retarded

This article states some of the statistics concerning the interaction between climate & adjustment. Figures on suicides,deaths, admissions to state mental hospitals, & admissions to institutions for the mentally retarded for each month fromJune 1962 through May 1967 for Ohio were studied. A significant monthly variation was found in the number of suicides with May being significantly higher than all other months except April & August. Suicides in February were much more lowerthan 6 other months.
