Presents the case of a 43 year old white male presenting at a VA clinic with headaches, nervous tension, difficulty sleeping, & suicidal ideation. Despite protests from the patient & his psychiatrist, the patient was kept by the VA clinic & placed in a permissive group. A significant event in the patient’s recovery occurred while fraternizing with another group member outside the clinic. (1 ref.) (RM)
