Attempted suicide is estimated at being up to 120 times greater than actual deaths from suicide. Some characteristics of persons under 20 years of age who attempted suicide in B.C. in 1966 are given. The conclusion makes some statements related to age groups and the sex of young people attempting suicide and recommends a 24-hour counselling service for youth. (TC)
