Studied homosexual behavior in 95 prisoners from a Massachusetts women’s prison. Suicidal thoughts & attempts, psych problems during menstruation & a history of violent crimes against persons were common in the homosexual group whereas crimes against self & property & alcoholism were common in the non-homosexual group. Findings support the hypothesis that aggressive impulses may be expressed either externally or toward the self, the problem being one of impairment in control mechanisms.
