Describes a retrospective analytic study of all reported suicides in Jessamine County, Kentucky, from 1963 through 1967. 18 suicides, 18 matched controls, & 30 random controls were interviewed using precoded questionnaires. Results indicate the etiological importance of dissatisfaction with work, mental illness, divorce, duration of physical illness, interpersonal conflict, & time of day. The victims’ attitudes toward self correlated highly with suicide risk. (RM)
