This paper compares the bereavement experiences which attend suicide, natural & accidental death for widows. 2 recent studies, Glick, Weiss & Parkes “The First Year of Bereavement” and Samuel Wallace’s “After Suicide” provide the data. The aspects of bereavement which are reviewed & compared include (1)anticipation of death, (2) personal reactions to death, (3) reactions of others, (4) adjustments & reinvolvement. New directions for bereavement research are also suggested.
