A brief account is given of the background & reliability of the Swedish official stats on suicide from 1925-50. Methods available for investigation of the problems underlying suicide are discussed. The analysis includes classification by sex, marital status, & rural/urban distribution, etc. A sociological & psychodynamic interpretation of the findings is presented, & certain theories are put forward on this basis.
