The effectiveness of Viadril (hydroxydione) in breaking down dissimulation in patients was studied. This drug was given to 11 patients admitted to a county hospital after suicide attempts, which they denied having made. Seven of the 11 patients reacted by giving truthful accounts of the circumstances of their suicide attempts.
