In less than a year the number of suicide prevention facilities in the United States increased from 47 to 74. A questionnaire survey of 60 of the centers reveals data on the auspices of the centers, the nature of their programs, the costs and volume of services, and the kind of person who makes use of these facilities. The author concludes that the programs provide a service that is of unique and special use to their communities and of considerable value to those who use it.
