This paper looks at manipulative suicide which is consideredas a psychosomatic disease because it gives rise to a specific lesion & because it allows the psychiatrist to work with the internist in the study & treatment of this condition. Methods of sorting out suicide manipulators & the incidence ofthis illness are discussed. The nature of the doctor/patientrelationship is described & certain guidelines are presentedwhich may be helpful to the doctor in his dealings with suicide manipulators.
