Authors compared a sample of New Zealand suicide attempters with a group of non-attempters. After a period of 18 to 24 months. Findings included: 38% of attempters prematurely dropped out of treatment, diagnosis of psychosis or personality disorder was positively correlated with repeated attempts, and interventions have greater impact on improvement of social interactions than on suicidal behaviour.(JH)
