Subjects were 85 male & 105 female evening-school college students. Used a 2*2*2 factorial design with: subject’s sex, concept’s sex & concept’s suicidal behavior (suicide & attempts). Subjects rated the concepts on evaluative, potency, activity & masculinity semantic differential scales. Results support the hypothesis that suicide is considered more masculine than attempted suicide & partially supported the hypothesis that suicide is considered more potent than attempted suicide.
