Argues for the importance of faith as a consideration in suicidal behaviour. Aspects covered include the historical church position of considering suicide a crime, the relationship of meaninglessness to a desire for death, the importance of hope in overcoming suicidal desire, & the role of guilt in suicide. It is suggested that there is value in giving suicidal persons a sense of purpose & of being forgiven. (24 refs.) (RM)
