This paper reports on suicide & attempted suicide in north-eastern Tasmania from January 1961 through December 1963. 137 patients admitted to hospital because of a suicide attempt were studied. Epidmiological data is provided. It was found that most of the patients were treated by physicians. Even though the number of referrals to psychiatric services increased over the study period, there was an increase in the number of suicides in the last year of the study. (6 refs.)
