A retrospective study of 541 attempted suicides examined patterns in the subject’s age & sex, & the hour, date, and day of the attempt. Analysis revealed a circadian periodicity for males & females, with the minimum attempts between 5-7 pm. A circaseptan rhythm was apparent for females but not males. A circannual rhythm was found for both sexes, with maximum incidence occurring in May for males & February for females. (26 ref)
