This article reviews past studies on the effect of seasonality on suicide. Several aspects are examined, including: geographical variations; urban-rural differences; male-female comparisons; & an examination of the seasonal variability of suicide rates according to age groups. Studies of attempted suicide offer some leads to understanding seasonal aspects of this problem, but many are hampered by the use of limited samples. (104 Refs.)
