This article focuses on the behavioral problems of teenagers that frequently confronts the primary care physician. The clinical assessment should determine to what degree the teenagers “undesired” behavior is beyond the control of his parents. The task of the physician is to determine whether the “loss of control” actually exists or is only perceived. The physician needs to respect the cultural background, values, mode of life of the family he is counselling.
