Comments of D. deCatanzaro’s explanation of suicide in terms of the learning and cultural evolution, the breakdown in adaptive mechanisms, kin and group selection, and a lack of effect on the gene pool. The present author regards suicide as a form of redirected aggression. In response, deCatanzaro discusses the divergence between inward- and outward-directed aggression and restates that suicide usually may be explained in terms of adaptive behavior.
