Describes a 28-yr old who suddenly began stuttering after an attempted suicide. Had a history of 1 prior stuttering episode that lasted approximately 1 week also following a suicide attempt. An intervention program using delayed auditory feedback was initiated; and in approximately 1 month, the frequency of stuttering had markedly decreased. His behaviour is considered to characterize stuttering of sudden onset in adults due to significant psychological distress.
