Describes a group (maximum 8 patients) set up to treat suicidal patients within 8 weeks. The group met twice weekly for 1.5 hours. Patients were often found to have late reactions to early loss. Particulars discussed include selection of patients, the intake interview, the group process, transference & termination problems, & therapist & staff accessibility for consultation. 2 vignettes & some summary descriptive statistics illustrate the effectiveness of the group.
