Intended as an update to Durkheim’s theories, the book begins with a new attempt to justify the usefulness of official statistics as a medium for the study of suicide, then examines Durkheim’s empirical claims in the light of more modern data, and finally undertakes a revision of Durkheim’s theoretical arguments.
