The capacity to detect suicide lethality was tested on groups of 30 physicians, mental health professionals, ministers & college students. Questions were based on the Suicide Potential Rating Scale. Their findings indicated that suicide signs were most clearly recognized by the groups in relation to the amount of contact with suicidal persons. Physicians & psychiatrists were most knowledgeable & were most frequently contacted by suicidal persons.
