This article focuses on problems of older White males. Aging after retirement may involve a loss of status, income, power, years to live, life roles, mental & physical health. Suggestions to reach & save the suicidal aging include: using seniors centres as a resource for identifying potential suicide & providing support services; research the link between retirement shock & suicide; & use of a “loss index” to quantify & weigh stress-causing losses associated with suicide.
