Forty depressed patients were compared to 40 matched control subjects in terms of hostility, depression and life events. More hostility was seen in the patients, and correlations between hostility and depression symptoms are reported. The number of loss life events was not related to hostility, but patients with no losses had a higher correlation between hostility and depression.
