325 parasuicides admitted to hospital were studied to assess their knowledge about Samaritans, How many had contacted Sam and why remainder had not. 1.4% had sought help from Sam immediatly before attempt, 13% had contacted Sam previously, 28% lacked knowledge of Sam. The young were most ignorant of Sam. Even of those who knew about Sam a small portion sought their help. Reasons for not contacting are analyzed and suggestions made educating public to seek help from Sam.
