Depressive patients (N=37) were examined, nine had completed suicide. An MMPI profile and check list was compiled on each patients to assess the risk of suicide. Anxiety and depression correlated with an increased risk. The specific type of fear is not important. The risk is frequently based on restrained, not expressed fear. Social maladjustment with fear is combined, expressing itself in the cry for help that a suicidal tendency represents. (GAW)
