Suicidal behavior in children aged 6-12 is considered in terms of incidence, risk factors, ego functions, & implications for educators. It is suggested that educators refer any child with emotional, social, academic difficulties for evaluation by school professionals & that the family of a child suspected for suicidal risk be encouraged to seek psychiatric consultation.
