In condensed form, the authors review literature on youth depression and suicide. Postulating that suicide and depression is underreported, sections on epidemiology, psychopathology, and clinical picture are presented. Guidelines for examination of the depressed child and treatment of the young suicide gesturer are provided. A final segment deals with prevention in terms of heightened awareness and possible technical hindrances to the attempter.
