Association of Childhood Parental Loss With Attempted Suicide and Depression

Incidence of parental loss or attempted suicide no higher among severely depressed than moderate or normal subjects. Childhood characterized by parental discord & intentional separation of parent from child associated with attempted suicide as adult, while childhood loss of parent through natural causes appears unrelated.
