Detailed histories of 546 women prisoners shows that death of fathers before 15 occured in 18.2%; death of mothers before 15, 13.2% and 40.5% death of either before 20. 22 of the women admitted previous suicidal attempts. Among 168 male prisoners, death of fathers before 15 occured in 13.4% and 8.6% of mothers. It was concluded that paternal and maternal deprivation was a significant factor in both male and female criminality but more significant among females.
