Suicide in Chicago: a Preliminary Statistical and Attitudinal Survey

An initial review of suicide in Chicago reveals that it is a major public health problem. It is estimated that 3-5 times the number of people who are reported have actually met their death via suicide. The time of day, the day of the week, & the method reveal that people kill themselves on Monday, with the lowest incidence on Sunday. The time of day is 2-4 pm. The most common method is gunshot. Married white males ages 50-60 show the highest incidence.
