This paper focuses on the consultation services of the Suicide Prevention Centre in Los Angeles & its evolving nature from ’59 to ’66. A collaborative & educational approach was used to assist other agencies to change their understanding about suicidal behavior & treatment. Included is a discussion of criteria used in consultation & examples of policy changes in community agencies leading to more effective servicing from both agencies & from the SPC.
