According to data for 2019, 1,128 people took their own lives in Quebec. That’s a crude suicide rate of 13.3 per 100,000 people. The suicide rate appears to be plateauing after declining for several years. In Quebec, suicide represents 1.7% of all deaths for the years 2017-2019. It is the 7th leading cause of death in the province. The suicide rate is three times higher among men than among women.
