In this study, 42 psychopathic subjects who had attempted suicide & were admitted to a general hospital in 1950-52 were investigated in detail. Their family histories, personal characteristics, socioeconomic status, physical state, the setting, situation & method used in the suicide attempt, motives, & the length of time they stayed in the hospital are described. The author found that 45% had made previous attempts, & 74% came from broken homes. (VM)
