Family environment as a moderator of the association between anxiety and suicidal ideation.

We examined links among anxiety, family environment, and suicidal ideation (SI). We used a clinical sample of psychiatrically hospitalized adolescents. Anxiety was independently and positively associated with SI. Family support, but not conflict, moderated the link between anxiety and SI. Treatments for youth anxiety should target family support to reduce suicide risk.
