Hendin states that much more study of the quality of family interaction that produces the suicide child is needed (p.26). He illustrates the inflence of family problems as a contributory factor, using case histories of suicidal young people who had lost a parent or had become alienated from the family. Other factors implicated in youth suicide, including rejection in love & the effect of academic pressure, are discussed. The author concludes the article with a demographic overview of suicide.
