Increasing rates of suicide in childhood & adolescence are attributed to those stemming from environmental factors–lack of parental love, authoritarian parents, family quarrels, low socioeconomic status, loneliness & parental alcoholism–& those which represent the child against itself–truancy, temper tantrums, adolescent boredom, fantasies of parental rejection & disappointment in adolescent love affairs. 3 case histories are presented.
