Driving records of 438 persons hospitalized for suicidal gestures in King County between 1963 & 1965 were compared with those of 687,288 persons living in the same county. The suicidal gesture group had a statistically higher accident rate(81% higher) & violation rate (146% higher) than the control group. The study group had more charges of drunken driving, reckless driving, driving while suspended, negligent driving, & a higher proportion of accidents resulting in injury. (NBB)
