American Indian/Alaskan Native youth suicide prevention and education programs.
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention~~~~~~
Forty percent of all Native American suicides involve children and youth ages 15 to 24. In native communities, youth suicide contagion is common, where one suicide triggers others attempts, resulting in multiple suicides or attempts within a short time frame. By nature, youth are highly vulnerable, but native youth are even more so. Therefore, AFSP supports the authorization and funding of Native American suicide prevention and education programs, especially those directed at youth, at the highest levels possible.
