Police Homicide-Suicide in Relation to Domestic Violence (In: Suicide and Law Enforcement, edited by D C Sheehan & J I Warren)

This chapter analyzes homicide-suicides within the context of domestic violence. Risk factors are assessed as they relate to lethality within police families or intimate relationships in which one or more of the parties is a law enforcement officer. Recent reported incidents involving police homicide-suicide are discussed in terms of predictive behaviour & intervention strategies. Suicide as a stand-alone act by police officers is contrasted with police homicide-suicides, emphasizing areas of difference & commonality.
